Custom steering wheels for the Mercedes-Benz C-Class W202

The W202 was the first C-Class, built from 1993 to 2001 as a saloon and the S202 estate, from the C180 through to the C36 and C43 AMG. Every W202 can take a wheel from the builder above. Decades of daily use leave most of them with a shiny, cracked rim, and a rebuilt wheel changes how the whole cabin feels.

Which wheel does your W202 have?

The W202 uses the same four-spoke airbag wheel as the last 190s, and the builder offers three kinds for it:

  • Standard wheel: the original W202 wheel, rebuilt to your specification.
  • Sport Line wheel: the rarer factory option with a sportier rim.
  • SL-style wheels: two wheels derived from the R129 SL that also fit the W202, a more affordable way to get a sporty look close to the Sport Line.

Not sure which you have? Compare your wheel with the pictures in the builder, or send us a photo.

Wood and colour in the W202

Most W202s have burl walnut, and some, mostly earlier cars, have zebrano. Which one your car has depended on the trim level as well as the year, so the best guide is the wood already on your dashboard and console. You will find matching pieces among our W202 wood trim.

Most W202 wheels are black. Some cars had coloured interiors with a wheel to match, in shades such as beige, dark green, dark red or brown, and we can match the leather to yours.

Popular W202 builds

Burl top and bottom: burl walnut sections with black nappa grips, the classic W202 upgrade and a close match to the dashboard.

Sport shape: the thicker sport grip with perforated leather sides, often with a flat bottom. It suits the C36 and C43 AMG and gives any W202 a firmer, sportier feel.

All Alcantara: a full Alcantara wheel fits the W202 surprisingly well, especially on sportier cars.

Before you order

Every wheel starts from a used original Mercedes-Benz core, so it bolts straight onto your W202. We rebuild everything you see and touch. Parts inside the wheel can show some corrosion from age, which is out of our hands, but when we source a wheel for you we pick the best core we can find.

Sport Line wheels are hard to find, so for those we build on the wheel you send us.

If your car has a driver airbag, remove the unit before sending your wheel and keep it at home; we never ship airbag units. When the wheel comes back, have the airbag refitted by a qualified mechanic.

W202 steering wheel questions

Does the estate use the same wheel?
Yes. The S202 estate uses the same wheels as the saloon, so the builder covers both.

Will an SL-style wheel fit my W202?
Yes. Both SL-style wheels in the builder fit the W202, and they cost less than a Sport Line wheel for a similar look.

How long does it take?
Most builds take one to two weeks in our workshop. We email you photos of the finished wheel to approve, then it ships to you anywhere in the world.
