Custom steering wheels for the Mercedes-Benz GLS X166
The X166 became the GLS in 2016, the seven-seat flagship SUV, until 2019. A wheel finished in a wood or leather of your choice suits its luxury cabin.
Which wheel does the builder show?
Every GLS X166 on this page has the sport three-spoke wheel Mercedes introduced in 2014, flat-bottomed as standard, with a sport or square shape as options.
Seven-seaters cover family miles, and the wheel shows them first: shiny grips and a worn top.
What you can change on your GLS wheel
- Shape: the OEM shape with its flat bottom, a sport grip, or a square shape.
- Top and bottom: leather, carbon fibre, forged carbon, piano black, or wood: Burl Walnut, Eucalyptus Wood, Anthracite Poplar Wood, Linden Wood.
- Sides: leather, perforated leather or Alcantara.
- Details: a wrapped trim, a leather or Alcantara airbag cover, and a 12 o'clock stripe in yellow, white, red, orange or black.
- Functions: the wheel's electronics and paddle shifters, heating and lane assist vibration.
Build ideas for the GLS
Linden: the OEM shape with Linden Wood and perforated leather sides.
Eucalyptus: Eucalyptus Wood with a leather airbag cover.
Sporty GLS: the sport shape with carbon fibre and Alcantara sides.
Before you order
Every wheel starts from an original Mercedes-Benz core: send us your own, or we source one for you. We rebuild everything you see and touch, and when we source a wheel we pick the best core we can find.
If your car has a driver airbag, remove the unit before sending your wheel and keep it at home; we never ship airbag units. When the wheel comes back, have the airbag refitted by a qualified mechanic.
GLS steering wheel questions
Is Linden Wood a real Mercedes option?
Yes, it was offered in the GLS, and it is one of the woods you can choose here.
How long does it take?
Most builds take one to two weeks in our workshop. We email you photos of the finished wheel to approve, then it ships to you anywhere in the world.
