Custom steering wheels for the Mercedes-Benz E-Class W210

The W210 E-Class, the one with the oval headlights, was built from 1995 to 2002 as a saloon and the S210 estate, from the E200 to the E55 AMG. Every W210 can take a wheel from the builder above, but which one depends on whether your car was built before or after the 1999 facelift.

Which wheel does your W210 have?

Pre-facelift cars, 1995 to 1999, have the same four-spoke wheel family as the W202 C-Class. The builder offers the standard wheel, the rarer Sport Line wheel and two SL-style wheels derived from the R129 SL.

Facelift cars, 1999 to 2002, have the later wheel with control buttons on the spokes. It does not fit pre-facelift cars, so choose your production year first.

A rarer version of the facelift wheel has no buttons. If yours is one, build it as the normal facelift wheel and add a note that it is the version without buttons.

Wood and colour in the W210

Most W210s have burl walnut, some, mostly earlier cars, have zebrano, and many have bird's-eye maple. If your car has chestnut, select burl in the builder and tell us in the notes. Which wood a car has depended on the trim level as well as the year, so match the wheel to the wood already in your car. Our W210 wood trim guide explains how to tell them apart.

Most W210 wheels are black. Some cars had coloured interiors with a wheel to match, in shades such as beige, dark green, dark red or brown, and we can match the leather to yours.

Popular W210 builds

Pre-facelift: the same favourites as the W202: burl top and bottom with black nappa, a sport grip with perforated sides, or a full Alcantara wheel.

Facelift AMG look: many facelift owners build a wheel in the spirit of the E55 AMG, with the sportier grip shape, smooth nappa leather and a leather-wrapped airbag cover.

Before you order

Every wheel starts from a used original Mercedes-Benz core, so it bolts straight onto your W210. We rebuild everything you see and touch. Parts inside the wheel can show some corrosion from age, which is out of our hands, but when we source a wheel for you we pick the best core we can find.

Sport Line wheels are hard to find, so for those we build on the wheel you send us.

If your car has a driver airbag, remove the unit before sending your wheel and keep it at home; we never ship airbag units. When the wheel comes back, have the airbag refitted by a qualified mechanic.

Can I fit the facelift wheel to my pre-facelift W210?
No. The facelift wheel with buttons is not compatible with pre-facelift cars, so choose from the wheels listed for your production year.

Does the estate use the same wheels?
Yes. The S210 estate uses the same wheels as the saloon of the same year.

How long does it take?
Most builds take one to two weeks in our workshop. We email you photos of the finished wheel to approve, then it ships to you anywhere in the world.
