Custom steering wheels for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class W126
The W126 S-Class was built from 1979 to 1991 as the SE and SEL saloons and the SEC coupe, from the 280 S to the 560 SEL. It set the standard for luxury saloons in the 1980s, and a worn, shiny wheel is one of the few things that can make one feel its age.
Which wheel does your W126 have?
The builder covers the four-spoke wheel in a standard and a smaller-diameter version. These are the wheels without an airbag, with a horn pad in the centre. If your W126 has a driver airbag, its wheel is different, so send us a photo before you order and we will tell you what we can do.
Wood and colour in the W126
Many earlier W126s have zebrano and most later cars have burl walnut, but the trim level mattered as well as the year, so match the wheel to the wood already on your dashboard. Bird's-eye maple is available too if you want a lighter look.
W126 interiors came in many colours, and we can match the leather to yours.
Build ideas for the W126
Factory fresh: smooth leather in the original colour, restored to how it looked new.
Wood top and bottom: zebrano or burl walnut to match the dashboard, which suits the SEL especially well.
Smaller and sportier: the smaller-diameter wheel with the thicker sport grip, which suits the SEC coupe.
Before you order
Every wheel starts from a used original Mercedes-Benz core, so it bolts straight onto your W126. We rebuild everything you see and touch. Parts inside the wheel can show some corrosion from age, which is out of our hands, but when we source a wheel for you we pick the best core we can find.
W126 steering wheel questions
Does the SEC coupe use the same wheel?
Yes. The C126 SEC takes the same wheels as the saloon.
My W126 has an airbag. Can you build my wheel?
Send us a photo before you order and we will tell you what we can do.
How long does it take?
Most builds take one to two weeks in our workshop. We email you photos of the finished wheel to approve, then it ships to you anywhere in the world.
