Custom steering wheels for the Mercedes-Benz CL-Class C215
The C215 CL-Class, built from 1999 to 2006, was the big pillarless coupe of its time, from the CL 500 to the CL 65 AMG. A rebuilt steering wheel brings back the feel of a car that was made to be driven far and fast.
This page covers the C215 CL-Class coupe, before and after the 2002 facelift, built 1999 to 2006.
Which wheel does the builder show?
The builder shows the four-spoke wheel the C215 shares with the W220 S-Class, the same wheel before and after the facelift.
Grand tourers cover long distances, so the top of the rim and the grips at 9 and 3 o'clock are usually worn smooth by now.
What you can change on your CL wheel
- Shape: the OEM shape, a sport grip, a sport grip with a flat bottom, or a square shape.
- Top and bottom: leather, carbon fibre, forged carbon, piano black, or wood: Burl Walnut, Eucalyptus Wood, Chestnut Burl.
- Sides: leather, perforated leather or Alcantara.
- Details: a leather or Alcantara airbag cover in one of two seam layouts, with an optional AMG logo, and a 12 o'clock stripe in yellow, white, red, orange or black.
Build ideas for the CL
Chestnut: the OEM shape with Chestnut Burl top and bottom and smooth leather, a rich, warm finish.
CL 55 look: the square shape with forged carbon, Alcantara sides and an Alcantara airbag cover with the AMG logo.
Grand tourer: a sport grip with Burl Walnut and perforated leather sides.
Before you order
We build on an original Mercedes-Benz wheel, either yours or one we source and refurbish. Parts inside an older wheel can show some corrosion from age, which is out of our hands, but everything you see and touch is new.
Sending your own wheel? Keep the airbag unit at home; we do not accept or return airbags. Have it refitted by a qualified mechanic afterwards.
CL steering wheel questions
Is the CL wheel the same as the S-Class one?
Yes. The C215 uses the same four-spoke wheel as the W220 S-Class, before and after the facelift.
What are the two airbag cover styles?
A wrapped cover can have a seam across the middle or none there; both have a seam along the top and an arched seam at the bottom. The builder shows both.
How long does it take?
Most builds take one to two weeks in our workshop. We email you photos of the finished wheel to approve, then it ships to you anywhere in the world.
