Custom steering wheels for the BMW 5 Series
The F10 5 Series, built from 2010 to 2017 as a saloon, Touring and Gran Turismo, is a car that rewards a better wheel: it spends its life on long drives. Its M Sport wheel looks like the 3 Series one but does not fit the same cars, so we always source a core made for the F10 family.
This page covers the F10 saloon, the F11 Touring, the F07 Gran Turismo and the F10 M5, built 2010 to 2017.
Which wheel does the builder show?
The F10 family has its own version of the M Sport wheel, which is not interchangeable with the 3 Series one. The M5 uses the matching M wheel, and both fit every F10, F11 and F07. The builder shows both, and every option can be previewed on either.
High-mileage 5 Series wheels usually show it on the lower half of the rim, where the hands slide during long motorway drives.
What you can change on your 5 Series wheel
- Shape: the OEM shape, a sport grip, a clean or an aggressive flat bottom, or a clean or an aggressive square shape.
- Top and bottom: leather, carbon fibre, forged carbon, piano black or wood: Light Wood, Dark Wood, Poplar Grain Grey, Fineline Brown.
- Sides: smooth nappa, perforated leather or Alcantara.
- Trim: the centre trim in Alcantara, carbon, forged carbon or piano black.
- Airbag cover: wrapped in leather or Alcantara.
- 12 o'clock stripe: M tricolour, yellow, white, red, orange or black.
- Functions: the wheel's electronics and paddle shifters, heating and lane assist vibration.
Build ideas for the 5 Series
Grand tourer: the OEM shape with Poplar Grain Grey wood and a leather airbag cover, a calm, modern look for long drives.
M5 sport: the M wheel with a flat bottom, carbon fibre and Alcantara sides.
Warm classic: Light Wood top and bottom with perforated leather sides, a lighter alternative to the dark woods.
Before you order
You choose the core: a genuine BMW wheel we refurbish, a new aftermarket wheel, or the wheel already in your car. Button layouts differ between BMWs, depending on the options fitted, so we check yours with you once the order is in.
If you send your own wheel, take the airbag out first and keep it safe at home, because airbag units cannot be shipped. A qualified mechanic should refit it when your wheel is back.
5 Series steering wheel questions
Can I use a 3 Series wheel on my 5 Series?
No. They look the same, but the F10 family wheel has a different part number and fitting. We only build F10 cars on a wheel made for them.
Can you build my wheel with wood like the factory option?
Yes. Choose from Light Wood, Dark Wood, Poplar Grain Grey and Fineline Brown, the woods of the F10 era.
How long does it take?
Most builds take one to two weeks in our workshop. We email you photos of the finished wheel to approve, then it ships to you anywhere in the world.
