Custom steering wheels for the BMW 3 Series E90, E91, E92 and E93
The E90 generation of the 3 Series ran from 2005 to 2013 as a saloon, a Touring, a coupe and a convertible. Whichever body you drive, the three-spoke wheel is the same, and a rebuilt one makes an older E9x feel new again.
This page covers the E90 saloon, the E91 Touring, the E92 coupe and the E93 convertible, and the M3 of all three, built 2005 to 2013.
Which wheel does the builder show?
The three-spoke wheels of the E90 era. The M Sport, Sport and M Performance wheels share one thick rim with different centres, and the Base Wheel is the standard wheel with its own rim. Every shape and finish can be previewed on each of them. For the M3 the builder shows the M Performance wheel.
Most E9x wheels now have a smooth, shiny top and worn grips at 9 and 3 o'clock, and the leather often starts to crack along the stitching.
What you can change on your 3 Series wheel
- Wheel: M Sport, Sport, M Performance or the Base Wheel.
- Shape: the OEM shape, a flat bottom or a square shape, and a round sport grip on the Base Wheel.
- Top and bottom: leather, carbon fibre, forged carbon, piano black or wood: Burl Wood, Poplar Light, Poplar Brown.
- Sides: perforated leather, smooth nappa or Alcantara.
- Trim: the centre trim in Alcantara, carbon, forged carbon or piano black.
- Airbag cover: wrapped in leather or Alcantara.
- 12 o'clock stripe: M tricolour, yellow, white, red, orange or black.
- Functions: on the M Sport, Sport and M Performance wheels, their electronics, paddle shifters and heating. The Base Wheel is a plain wheel without these options.
Build ideas for the 3 Series
335i coupe: the M Performance centre with a sporty flat bottom, carbon fibre, Alcantara sides and the M tricolour stripe.
Touring: the Sport centre in the OEM shape with Poplar Brown top and bottom and smooth leather sides.
Track day: the M Sport wheel with the square shape fully in Alcantara and an Alcantara trim.
Before you order
You can have us find an M Sport, Sport or Base Wheel, or send in the one from your car. For the M Performance wheel we always work on your own. Button layouts differ between BMWs, depending on the options fitted, so we check yours with you once the order is in.
If you send your own wheel, take the airbag out first and keep it safe at home, because airbag units cannot be shipped. A qualified mechanic should refit it when your wheel is back.
3 Series steering wheel questions
Does it fit every E9x body?
Yes. The E90 saloon, E91 Touring, E92 coupe and E93 convertible all use this wheel.
Does it fit the M3?
Yes. Choose the M3 in the builder: it shows the M Performance wheel, which we build on your own wheel.
Can I have the M Performance centre on a wheel you source?
No. We source the M Sport, Sport and Base wheels; for the M Performance one, send us your own wheel.
How long does it take?
Most builds take one to two weeks in our workshop. We email you photos of the finished wheel to approve, then it ships to you anywhere in the world.
