About the Porsche CDR-210 (BE2282)

The CDR-210 is a Becker CD radio found in the 986 Boxster, among other Porsches of that time. This page is for the BE2282 version. Its Porsche part number is 993.645.120.01. Its code has four digits.

Same name, different versions

Porsche also sold the CDR-210 as BE2262. Each version has its own codes, so pick the BE number printed on your label.

Where to find the serial number

The serial is on the label on the radio housing, next to Serial-No., on the same label as the model number. We only need its last four digits. If a digit is hard to read, photograph the label and zoom in: a misread digit gives a code that will not work.

Reading the serial without removing the radio

On the CDR-210 you can show the serial number in the radio's own menu:

1. Press the tone button, then press 8 and 0 at the same time. Becker appears.
2. Press the station up arrow on the right. PR-VERS appears.
3. Press one of the numbered buttons directly below the arrowheads in the display (you may need to try a few). The model number appears.
4. Press the station up arrow again. SERIAL N appears.
5. Press the same numbered button again. The serial number appears.

If the radio is out of the car, the serial is also on the label on the housing.

Checking for your code

Enter the last four digits of the serial in the form above. The check is free and tells you straight away whether your code is on record. If it is, you pay once and the code is emailed to you automatically, usually within minutes of payment, at any hour. If it is not, you pay nothing.

Entering the code

When the CDR-210 has lost power, the display shows CODE with a flashing C. The code is four digits, and it goes in on the numbered buttons below the display:

1. Press the button for the first digit. CODE disappears and the digit is shown, followed by three dashes.
2. Enter the other three digits in order. The position you are on flashes.
3. When all four are in, the first digit flashes. You can still overwrite the code at this point, but to correct a mistake you have to enter all four digits again.
4. When the display shows the right code, confirm it by pushing the signal seek switch.

If the code is not accepted

If a wrong code goes in, CODE comes back and you can try again. According to the Porsche manual for the CDR-210, the radio allows three attempts and then shows WAIT for 10 minutes before you get three more. After nine wrong attempts the wait becomes 60 minutes, and every further failure costs another 60 minutes. The radio must stay switched on during the waiting time.
